About Thai Foot Massage

Thai Foot Massage is an ancient form of massage and is as popular as body massage treatments in Thailand. It is both invigorating and deeply relaxing and brings immediate relief.

Although called Foot Massage is it actually a massage of the lower legs, knee and feet with the final phase focusing on the head neck and shoulders to create a balance in the north and south of the body.

The massage is generally done with the client sitting in a comfortable reclining chair with their feet resting on a stool – this means there is no need to undress just remove socks and shoes. The therapist will be sitting in on a small stool while working on the feet.

Foot Massage Session

The session should last 1 hour
After first washing the feet, treatment will involve using oils, creams or lotions and techniques including stretching and bending of the feet, stimulation of the Sen lines (energy pathways) using hands, fingers, thumbs and knuckles to apply pressure to various points. The beneficial effects can be enhanced using a Thai wooden stick to stimulate the reflex points of the feet which correspond to the internal organs and muscles.

Towels are also used to wrap and cover the leg and foot not being worked on.
From a health point of view, working on the feet is not only beneficial for the feet but affects the entire body.
Most clients experience a profound state of relaxation and often fall asleep during the session.
Foot massage is recommended for everyone, especially after a long day of standing and walking or sitting.
